BBQ Grill Cleaning in Los Angeles and Ventura County

Professional grill cleaning means taking the grill apart and cleaning the parts a brush never reaches: the burners and their ports, the heat shields, the firebox and the grease channels. We do that for gas, built-in, pellet and charcoal grills across Los Angeles County and Ventura County, then light and test every burner before we leave. Most grills take one visit.

BBQ Repair Doctor is a family-owned repair company with more than 30 years in the trade. The person cleaning your grill is a certified technician, so a worn igniter or a cracked burner gets spotted while the grill is already apart. You get a firm quote before any work starts.

What a deep grill cleaning includes, step by step

  1. Gas off, hoses checked. We close the supply, disconnect the tank or shut the natural gas valve, and look over the hose and regulator before anything comes apart.
  2. Top layer out. Grates, warming rack and flame tamers or briquette trays come out and go into a degreasing soak.
  3. Burners pulled. Each burner tube is removed and scraped, and every port is cleared so the flame burns blue and even again.
  4. Firebox scraped. Carbon and old grease come off the walls and floor down to clean metal. That black crust holds moisture against the steel, and it is what rusts a firebox out.
  5. Grease path cleared. Drip tray, grease channels and the collection cup are emptied and degreased.
  6. Ignition cleaned. Electrodes and collector boxes are wiped down, and each one is tested for a strong spark.
  7. Rebuilt and fired. Everything goes back in place. We light each burner, watch the flame pattern and heat-up, then polish the stainless outside.

If the cleaning turns up a part that’s on its way out, we show it to you and quote the repair before touching it. Photos from past jobs are in our before and after gallery.

Signs your grill is overdue

Scrubbing the grates keeps them presentable. These point to buildup underneath:

Packed grease under the burners is also a fire risk. The National Fire Protection Association lists failure to clean as a leading factor in home grill fires.

Cleaning or restoration?

A cleaning brings back a grill that’s dirty but sound. When the firebox has rusted through, the burners are corroded or the stainless is pitted, soap and scrapers won’t get it back. That job is BBQ restoration: new burners, heat plates and ignition parts where they’re needed, stainless refinished where it can be, and a grill rebuilt to cook the way it did when it was installed.

We’ll tell you which one your grill needs once we’ve seen it. Plenty of grills that look rough only need the cleaning.

Built-in grills and outdoor kitchens

A lot of what we clean sits in outdoor kitchens. We work on Lynx, Wolf, Viking, Fire Magic, DCS, Kalamazoo, Twin Eagles and Weber, plus Traeger and most other brands you’ll find in a backyard. Ceramic infrared burners and brass valves need the right tools and the right degreaser, and our technicians handle them the way the manufacturer intends.

Side burners, warming drawers and the rest of the outdoor kitchen can be done on the same visit. Restaurants can book charbroiler and commercial grill cleaning through our commercial barbecue service.

Where we clean

Our technicians cover Los Angeles County and Ventura County, from Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Malibu to Pasadena, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Oxnard. The full list of neighborhoods is on our Los Angeles and Ventura County pages. Same-day appointments are open on many weekdays.

Grill cleaning questions

How often should a grill be professionally cleaned?

Once or twice a year for most homes here, since grills get used in every season. If you cook several times a week, plan on every six months.

How long does a deep cleaning take?

Most cleanings are done in a single visit, and you can cook on the grill that evening.

Can I clean the burners and firebox myself?

You can lift out the grates and flame tamers and scrub what’s under them. Removing burners and clearing ports means working around gas parts, and that’s the step most owners leave to us. Our guide to professional versus DIY grill cleaning shows where the line sits.

How is the price of a grill cleaning set?

It depends on the grill’s size and type and how long it has gone since the last cleaning. A portable cart grill and a 48-inch built-in are very different jobs. We quote the whole job up front, and nothing is added without your okay.

What happens if you find something broken?

We stop, show you the part and price the repair. Common fixes like igniters, burners and valves can usually be done during the same visit, so there’s no second appointment to wait for. Parts and labor carry a warranty.
